What’s happening this weekend for Dia de Muertos

Bailongo de Calacas en el Museo del Carmen

Wednesday, October 30. The event is part of Museum Night, which is held on the last Wednesday of every month. Bring your costume for this evening.

What does it consist of? There will be dancing to move your skeleton to the rhythm of cumbia, salsa and various other genres; picnic (you must bring your basket with food and non-alcoholic beverages); and a catrina catwalk in which you can participate.

Monumental Offering in the Zocalo

Until Sunday, November 3. Out of 10 proposals submitted, the one from the Xibalbá Art Workshop was chosen, elaborated by more than 100 artists. This ofrenda is inspired by the comparsas and the work of engraver Eduardo Robledo.

It gathers 21 pieces of monumental cartonería that go from six to 10 meters high, plus a monumental offering of 17 meters high, with a mirror of water of more than 200 square meters, in addition to two trajineras and a monumental chinampa, a garden of cempasúchil with 10 thousand plants of producers and producers of Xochimilco.

Gran Desfile de Día de Muertos

There will be 37 contingents, seven floats (three of which are dedicated to Rosario Castellanos, David Alfaro Siqueiros and Lucha Reyes), 16 musical troupes, eight mojigangas contingents and more than 600 catrines and catrinas. It will last 4.5 hours.

Day of the Dead Immersive Experience

Until Sunday, November 10. A Journey to the Mictlan’ is an immersive experience presented by Fantasy Lab, inspired by the Mexica cosmovision of the “place of the dead”. Through eight rooms it shows the passage of souls through the underworld divided into nine levels, until they reach their final rest.

Chocolate Museum

The MUCHO could not miss out on October’s Noche de Museos with special activities. There will be a musical concert, cacao and chocolate tastings for $200, chocolate workshop on metate for $200 and guided tours. This evening’s event is called El legado de Amarín (Amarin’s Legacy).
